Questions parents ask

What is the difference between IB Maths AI HL and AA HL?+
AI HL centres on statistical analysis, modelling, and technology with real-world data. AA HL focuses on abstract theory and proof. Check university requirements before choosing.
Is a graphing calculator allowed in all three papers?+
Paper 1 is non-technology. Papers 2 and 3 are GDC-active. Students who are not fluent with their calculator under timed conditions often lose marks even when they know the maths.
How early should an AI HL student start the Internal Assessment?+
Earlier than most expect. The IA is 20% of the final grade. Topic selection, data, and analysis take time - starting in the first half of Year 1 is advisable.
What makes Paper 3 different?+
Paper 3 presents extended problems in unfamiliar contexts across multiple syllabus areas. It is HL-only and rewards practised extended problem-solving, not topic revision alone.
How are the online classes structured?+
Sessions are live and one-on-one, planned around the student’s level and exam timeline. Students work through problems in real time and receive targeted practice between sessions.
