Live One-to-One Sessions
A full hour of actual conversation, which a classroom cannot provide.
Mother Tongue, Higher Mother Tongue and Third Languages
Help your child hold their ground in Mother Tongue Language with one-to-one online tutoring from Jaya's Academy. We cover Chinese, Malay and Tamil from Primary 1 through Junior College, including Higher Mother Tongue and the B-syllabus options, alongside the third languages offered through MOE Language Centres.
Mother Tongue Language is compulsory for almost every student in Singapore and examinable at every major checkpoint - it counts toward the PSLE score, is required at O-Level, and must be satisfied at H1 level for most university admissions. That makes it unusual: a subject a student may have little affinity for, which nonetheless carries real consequences at every stage.
Students sit it at different levels. Higher Mother Tongue is offered to stronger candidates and carries weight in some school admissions; the B-syllabus options exist for students who would otherwise struggle to meet the requirement at all. Beyond Mother Tongue, students can take a third language - Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Malay Special Programme or Chinese Special Programme - typically through the MOE Language Centre of Singapore.
Language is also the subject where one-to-one tutoring differs most from a class. Speaking cannot be practised in a room of thirty students, and the oral component carries real marks at PSLE and O-Level. A tutor who talks with your child for an hour a week is doing something a classroom structurally cannot.
Our language tutors know the difference between a student who is behind and a student who simply does not speak the language at home. The second is extremely common in Singapore, and it calls for a different approach - more listening and speaking, less written drilling.
Mother Tongue is the subject most often left until it becomes a problem. Our online language tutors work on listening and speaking first, because those are what a student uses to build everything else - and because the oral component is worth marks that are far easier to gain than the equivalent in written paper practice.
A full hour of actual conversation, which a classroom cannot provide.
Reading aloud, picture discussion and conversation for PSLE and O-Level orals.
Standard, Higher and B-syllabus Mother Tongue at every level.
Written paper technique alongside the spoken work.
Japanese, French, German and Spanish for MOE Language Centre students.
Sessions timed around school and existing tuition commitments.
Personalized academic support aligned with the Singapore curriculum to help students build skills, confidence, and achieve success.
Primary Mother Tongue decides how the rest of the journey feels. Students who reach P5 without secure vocabulary and listening find the PSLE paper punishing, so the early years focus on spoken confidence and character or script recognition before written technique.
Secondary is where the level a student sits starts to matter. We support Standard and Higher Mother Tongue, and the B-syllabus route for students who need it, alongside third languages taken at MOE Language Centres.
At JC, Mother Tongue is a requirement to satisfy rather than a subject most students want to spend time on. We aim to get it met efficiently so attention can go where it is needed - which is usually the H2 subjects.
We start by finding out what your child can actually understand and say, not what they can write. That is usually where the real gap is, particularly for students who do not speak the language at home.
A plan built around the level your child is sitting - Standard, Higher or B-syllabus - and the components where marks are most reachable.
Every session includes real spoken practice. This is the single largest advantage one-to-one tutoring has over a classroom in a language subject.
Composition structure, comprehension strategy and situational writing formats, practised against past papers.
Regular review across all four components, so a weakness in listening or oral is caught rather than hidden by decent written marks.
Through Languages tutoring, students develop academic and life skills that support long-term educational success.
Very common in Singapore, and it needs a different approach - listening and speaking first, written drilling second.
Full paper preparation across listening, oral, composition and comprehension, with realistic timing practice.
Support for the more demanding syllabus, including the composition and comprehension standards it expects.
Focused support for students who need to meet the requirement without it dominating their schedule.
Japanese, French, German and Spanish for students studying at MOE Language Centres.
Tutors fluent in the language and familiar with the MOE syllabus, its levels and its examination formats.
A full hour of conversation each week, which is structurally impossible in a class of thirty.
Standard, Higher or B-syllabus - taught to the standard that actually applies to your child.
Lessons built around the syllabus and paper format your child will sit, not generic language teaching.
Convenient session times around school, CCAs and other tuition.
Updates across all four components, so oral and listening are not left to look after themselves.
Whether your child is aiming for Higher Mother Tongue or simply needs to meet the requirement without it taking over, our one-to-one language tutoring starts with listening and speaking - the parts a classroom cannot give them.
