No. Much can be done with simulators, and we will tell you honestly before recommending any purchase.

Is this on the school syllabus?+
No, it is enrichment. It supports Computing and is useful for robotics competitions and DSA portfolios.
Does my child need programming experience?+
Some helps but is not required. Beginners start with block-based control and move to text code.
