What does elementary math cover?
Elementary math introduces core concepts for Grades K-5 (ages 5-11), including number sense, place value, basic operations, fractions, decimals, measurement, geometry, and introductory data analysis. Based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), students build procedural fluency and conceptual understanding.
Why is a strong foundation so important?
The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) identifies elementary school as the most critical window for building number sense. Students who achieve fluency in grades K-3 are significantly more likely to succeed in algebra by Grade 8.
