Why it works

What Is Business Studies in the Canadian Curriculum?

Business Studies is a senior-school subject in Canada, taught from Grade 9 onward and assessed largely through written analysis rather than examination recall. Ontario has the fullest suite - BBI1O and BBI2O Introduction to Business, BAF3M and BAT4M Accounting, BDI3C Entrepreneurship, BBB4M International Business. British Columbia offers Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Accounting in Grades 11 and 12. Alberta delivers business through Career and Technology Studies. Students who struggle here usually struggle with the writing and the case analysis, not with the concepts.

  • 01 Matched to the course code and provincial curriculum
  • 02 Same dedicated tutor for continuity
  • 03 Case analysis and report writing taught explicitly

Questions parents ask

Common Questions, Answered

Can't find what you need? Our academic advisors are available across Canadian time zones.

Which business courses do you cover?+
Ontario BBI1O/BBI2O, BAF3M, BAT4M, BDI3C and BBB4M; BC Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Accounting in Grades 11 and 12; and Alberta CTS business modules.
Do you cover accounting specifically?+
Yes. Accounting is where most students in these courses actually lose marks, so the accounting cycle, journals, ledgers and financial statements are worked through step by step.
My teen finds the case studies hard rather than the theory. Can you help?+
That is the usual pattern. Case analysis is a teachable method - identify the real problem, weigh the options, recommend and justify - and we teach it directly rather than assuming it.
Is Business Studies taught before Grade 9?+
Rarely as its own subject. Younger students meet it as financial literacy inside the mathematics curriculum, which our maths tutoring already covers.
