Why it works

What Is Elementary French in Canada?

Most Canadian students meet French in the elementary years, but how and when depends on the province. Ontario mandates French as a Second Language from Grade 4, with Core, Extended and Immersion streams. British Columbia requires Core French from Grade 5 through Grade 8. Alberta offers French as a Second Language alongside Immersion programs. In every case the gap that opens early is oral confidence: children can often read and write more French than they will risk saying aloud, which is exactly what one-to-one sessions fix.

  • 01 Core French and French Immersion both supported
  • 02 Same dedicated tutor for continuity
  • 03 Speaking practice in every session, not an add-on

Questions parents ask

Common Questions, Answered

Can't find what you need? Our academic advisors are available across Canadian time zones.

Which grades does this cover?+
Grades 1 to 8. From Grade 9 onward our High School French program covers Core, Extended and Immersion courses through to Grade 12.
My child is in French Immersion and struggling with maths taught in French. Can you help?+
Yes, and it is a common request. We can work on the subject content and the French vocabulary it needs at the same time, rather than treating them as two separate problems.
Do the tutors speak French fluently?+
Yes. French tutors are matched for spoken fluency, because a session that never leaves English does not build the skill your child is actually assessed on.
