Why it works

What Is High School ELA?

Senior English is where marks start to matter for post-secondary offers, and where the work shifts from reading comprehension to sustained written argument. In Ontario that means ENG1D through ENG4U plus the OSSLT literacy requirement; in British Columbia, Composition and Literary Studies through to English Studies 12 alongside the Grade 10 and Grade 12 Literacy Assessments; in Alberta, English 10-1 and 10-2 through to the English 30-1 and 30-2 diploma examinations. Our tutors work from the course your teen is actually enrolled in.

  • 01 Matched to the course code, not a generic syllabus
  • 02 Same dedicated tutor for continuity
  • 03 Essay feedback on the work being marked at school

Which grades and courses does High School ELA cover?+
Grades 9 to 12, including Ontario ENG1D through ENG4U, BC Composition, Literary Studies and English Studies 12, and Alberta English 10-1/10-2 through 30-1/30-2.
Can you prepare my teen for the OSSLT?+
Yes. We prepare Ontario students for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test, including students on a second attempt, working through the reading selections and short writing tasks in their real formats.
What about the BC Literacy Assessments?+
We prepare BC students for both the Grade 10 and Grade 12 Literacy Assessments, focusing on the synthesis and written-response work those assessments are built around.
What is the difference between English 30-1 and 30-2 in Alberta?+
English 30-1 is the more analytically demanding route and is required for many university programs; 30-2 leads to other post-secondary and career pathways. We support both, and help students who are trying to hold or move between them.
